Don't Take Your Meantime for Granted: What to Do While You're Waiting for the Next Chapter ✨

Yesterday, I was heavily engaged in a guided meditation called, "Stepping into the Next Chapter", sitting by the water at the park. The semi-cold breeze brushed against my face and legs as I tried to settle into mindfulness. The voice in the guided meditation told me to be still and remind myself: "Nothing needs to be done at the moment.”
I was reluctant to say it—oh, how I dread stillness and "nothingness."
As I surrendered, the voice guided me into a rainbow light—which I later learned carries powerful spiritual and energetic meanings:
Rainbow Symbolism
Divine promise and protection: Biblically, the rainbow represents God’s covenant and promise of protection (Genesis 9:13-16). Seeing or visualizing a rainbow can be a sign of reassurance, hope, and divine favor.
Chakra alignment: Although not mentioned in the Bible, spiritually, a rainbow symbolizes chakra balancing, representing the full spectrum of energy centers aligning.
Transition and new beginnings: Since the meditation was about stepping into a new chapter, the rainbow may represent moving through stages of growth and clarity.
Green Light Symbolism
Heart chakra healing: Green represents the heart chakra, symbolizing love, compassion, and emotional healing.
Growth and renewal: Green light can also signify personal and spiritual growth, confirming that you’re stepping into a season of renewal.
Healing energy: In spiritual practices, green light is used for emotional and physical healing, making space for new blessings.
What it meant for me:
The rainbow and green light were spiritual confirmations that I’m in a season of renewal, spiritual alignment, and healing. It reassured me that even in stillness, God is working. 🙏🏾💙
So, What Do You Do in Your Meantime?
The synchronicities and confirmations are comforting—who knew that when Scrubs came on the radio, it was referring to my recent first date—but waiting for the next chapter can sometimes be excruciating.
Like being stuck in a broken record. Remember those unbearably long, hot summer days as a kid—where time drags and nothing exciting seems to happen? The universe might be rejecting your tape deck submissions, but maybe it’s because you’re meant to be still and prepare.
Here’s what I’ve learned about what to do while waiting:
1. Learn from Your Mistakes
Sis, let’s be honest—life has kicked some of us right in the rear!
We’ve repeated cycles, ignored red flags, and let emotions (especially anger) get the best of us. You can’t move into the next chapter without learning from the last one.
Remember when Mama said, “A hard head makes a soft behind”? She wasn’t lying. Sometimes God lets us hit those same walls repeatedly because we weren’t ready to leave the room. Use this time to reflect and break those patterns.
2. Wait on God
We love to think we’ve got it all figured out, but only divine timing knows when you’re ready. Even if you have spiritual gifts, intuition, and foresight, God’s plan trumps all.
Scriptures like:
Psalm 27:14 – "Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart."
Isaiah 40:31 – "But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength."
...remind us that waiting is not idle—it’s purposeful. While you’re waiting, keep praying, meditating, and seeking confirmation. Let God guide the next move, not impatience.
3. Work on Your Goals
Sis, you’ve been asking for time—and now you have it!
Do a spoken word. Paint a picture. Those days when you were overwhelmed, praying for a moment to breathe? Well, this is your moment.
Use it to:
Enhance your health: Start a detox, fitness routine, or spiritual cleanse.
Develop new skills: Go back to school, take a course, or learn something new.
Prioritize self-care: Pour into yourself—emotionally, mentally, and physically.
You’re being given this space to prepare for the next level, so don’t waste it. 🌿✨
4. Girl, Clean Your House!
No, seriously. Cleaning is spiritual—it creates space for new energy. There’s a reason the old saying goes, "Cleanliness is close to Godliness.”
In the Bible, God often required ritual purification as a sign of reverence and renewal. Exodus 19:6 says, “You shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.” Holiness was reflected in their daily lives—including cleanliness.
So, grab the Pine-Sol and cleanse that energy! You’ll be surprised how much lighter and more empowered you feel after decluttering your space.
5. Catch Up on Movies and Music
In your downtime, let art and creativity minister to you.
Music and movies have a way of:
Healing wounds you didn’t know were there
Revealing emotions you’ve suppressed
Inspiring creativity or sparking joy
I’ve discovered new artists and movies that spoke directly to my current journey. Let music and art remind you that you’re not alone in this process.
6. Heal and Let Go
You can’t carry old baggage into new blessings—period.
The meantime is the perfect season for releasing:
Write it down. ✍🏾
Burn it in a fire. 🔥
Release it through tears. 💧
Unforgiveness is dead weight—it’s not hurting them, it’s hurting you. Let it go, baby. You deserve the freedom.
7. Reach Out to an Old Friend
Stop lurking on their Facebook or IG posts and actually send a message.
You might be surprised by how much you both need the reconnection.
Real friends won’t hold time against you—they’ll be happy you reached out.
Your Meantime is Sacred
The next chapter is coming—but don’t waste the meantime.
Use it to learn, grow, and elevate. God is giving you a sacred pause—not because you’re being punished, but because He’s preparing you for more.
So tell me, sis—what are YOU doing while waiting on your next level? 💙🔥🙏🏾
