Is Cuffing Season Actually Toxic?
DB4A Thoughts | Love, Loneliness & Modern Dating
It's getting cold outside (well, not today, lol), but don't let cuffing season have you sleeping with the enemy! 😩
I recently came across an interesting Cosmopolitan article questioning whether cuffing season is actually a toxic dating trend. Ironically, it's a conversation I've had with one of my girls, too.
We've heard the phrase on shows like Harlem and countless dating shows. Apparently, when the temperature drops, so do some people's standards!
Suddenly, everybody wants somebody to cuddle with, binge-watch Netflix with, and keep them warm through the winter months.

Now, don't get me wrong. There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting companionship. We're human. We crave affection, intimacy, and connection.
But loneliness has a funny way of making red flags look a little pink.
Sometimes, the desire to have someone around can cause us to overlook incompatibility, compromise our standards, or mistake temporary comfort for genuine connection.
And let's be clear: Just because someone keeps you warm doesn't mean they're good for your emotional well-being.
Perhaps the real question isn't whether cuffing season itself is toxic. Maybe it's whether we're entering relationships with genuine intention, out of emotional need, or simply because society has convinced us that being single during the colder months is somehow a problem.
Because companionship is beautiful, but settling out of loneliness? That's a different conversation.
So, what do you think? Are we dating for genuine connection, or are we just trying to avoid being alone until spring? 👀
