5 Quiet Decisions That Changed My Day

@Tay_34, Taylor Bennett

As a writer, I’ve learned that writing isn’t about knowing everything in life or being perfect in your niche — it’s about telling your story in the process, no matter what chapter you’re on.

Some people may know more than you in their spiritual journey. Others may know less. But that doesn’t matter.

At one point, it bothered me — because of where I was in my own journey. But now I realize what matters is that you have a unique story to share about your process.

Life put me back in the student chair — not to teach, but to reflect with others.

And here is my tiny win.

Followed Through.

Not every day is a breakthrough. Some days are just maintenance — and today was that day for me.

No big revelations. No dramatic shifts. But I followed through with everything I planned to do for myself, and that is a win.

My Valentine’s Day was packed with work training — 11+ hours of catching up. I would’ve rather been celebrating, but my job is my livelihood. And sometimes growth looks like prioritizing what brings long-term results.

I also stayed aligned with my Weight Watchers points — no stress eating under pressure, no coping habits I’d regret the next day.

One self-care lesson I’m learning: You can’t get mad at others for breaking promises to you if you’re breaking promises to yourself.

Chose to Skip the Wine and Sit With Myself.

Sometimes wine is my “release” after a long day.

After hours of training, I thought about grabbing a glass. It was Valentine’s Day. I was home. It felt justified.

But I had to ask myself why I really wanted it.

Was it unwinding — or was it avoiding?

Wine can be a subtle escape from uncomfortable feelings, even when we dress it up as relaxation.

Did I actually need it? No.

The gain? I honored my promise. I didn’t add empty calories. I didn’t numb anything.

Small wins count.

Accepted All of Me — Even the Raw Parts.

Have you ever caught your reflection on a hectic day — messy house, unfinished tasks, hair not perfect — and felt that cringe?

Yesterday, I caught myself in the mirror. My hair wasn’t perfect. My body wasn’t “ideal.” I looked natural.

And instead of criticizing myself, I chose compassion.

I told myself I was beautiful — because I am.

And you are too.

Remembered I’m Part of the Growth Process — Not Above the Lesson.

For a moment, I thought I had certain things figured out in this growth era.

Yesterday, life humbled me.

I won’t unpack it all here — maybe another blog — but I realized I was wrong about some things. Acting like I had mastered lessons I was still learning.

Life will humble you quickly.

You are never above the lesson.

So I’m writing from the student’s chair now — because we are all still learning.

This is a new chapter.

Trusted the Timing Instead of Trying to Force It.

There is no formula for love, writing, growth, or success.

You cannot rush what is meant to unfold.

No amount of “game,” knowledge, or growth material can override divine timing.

You might avoid certain mistakes, sure. But some lessons are necessary for your evolution.

Everything happens in its time.

Even the quiet wins.

What are your small wins today?
